March has quite a Sporting Start.

I have to admit that despite being subjected to enforced rest and employing air filter systems to try and minimise the shite that invades unprotected lungs at Chiang Mai and large areas of SE Asia burn, I have, enjoyed some of the sporting entertainment on the first weekend in March.

Yes, I did get out for fish and chips and a pint of Ruddles on Friday it's true but for the most of the weekend I have been at home, eating, drinking and in front of one screen or other.

Anyway it does give me chance to play and as Thailand considers its entry into the space program, I decided to have a stab at what it would look like if it was based here in Chiang Mai. After all, what is a little more pollution here when you can be the hub of space exploration for SE Asia 😈

Just kidding.
There was a lot of footy this weekend, and as you may have read, the Clarets were held by a determined Seasider team fighting for Championship survival. That one did my BP no good at all, but we maintained our unbeaten run.
City played Newcastle and made me wonder if Eddie Howe was regretting loaning Wood to Nottingham Forrest, they do look to have a problem taking their chances.
Not the case for Arsenal who piled agony on the Cherries, imagine being 2 up and losing 3 - 2 with the final goal in the 7th minute of added time.
Everton got an away draw, Southampton and Wolves won and Leeds lost (oh dear what a shame 😈)
Then, just as you could be forgiven for thinking that the Arsenal comeback made it the game of the weekend, Liverpool smashed an incredible 7 past Man U (oh dear what a shame again...).
Footy wasn't the only thing that this weekend brought.
The F1 season is up and running and although there was a distinct lack of incident at the night race in Bahrain there was a lot of pleasure.
Maybe predictably Red Bull took first and second place but much to my great delight, Alonso, the old man of the race at 41 and my wife's favourite driver (I take comfort in knowing she goes for older men) took an impressive podium with 3rd, I think his 99th F1 podium.
I nicked this pic from the BBC website:

I confess to being a bit of a romantic with anything that bears the Aston Martin name even if it is not quite the same as when 007 is driving it, I mean what a driver Bond was, if they hadn't killed him off I am sure he would have been up there on the podium.
Car tech is incredible, but it does depend on location somewhat, I spliced this little thing together in 2014 to show just that. The difference between German engineering and the New Zealand approach.
The New Zealand one has the advantage that it can't easily be hacked and doesn't make you watch a 30 second advert before doing what you have it for.

There are lots and lots of good sporting events to look forward to this month, more footy in the UK, the FA cup quarter finals where Man City host Vincent Kompany's Clarets, how the draw comes out. My friend thinks the syndicates have fixed it...
And it is festival time for jump racing fans, racing doesn't get any better.
So here is to an exciting March.
Coffee.
