Al's Per Magica Ad Astra blog.
When you retire you have the time to enjoy.
Fortunately, I can enjoy Chiang Mai, Thailand and many other places.
I hope the blog is entertaining and useful.
Even funny (sometimes)😂

Well not yet.
Hello all hope you are well.
As you may gather, I am still confined to barracks with the sciatic problem that is plaguing me.
I've finished the steroids now but still have a week worth of anti inflammatories that I am hoping with all my heart will do the job.
Interesting init? I wondered about rather than saying "hoping with all my heart" it would have been a lot simpler, and perhaps more natural for me to say "praying". It is such a well used expression.
But I can't really put it into true context. Never mind.
As I am sat on my arse turning back into a blob, I thought I would add a little composite snap of mine for your entertainment.
Mind you at this time of year being outside is not quite a nice as it should be in the wonderful part of the world.
I am referring to, of course the annual blight that effects us at this time, pollution 😡
Here is a screen shot from #iqair.com from this morning:
Not good. As you can see, they estimate that this blight kills 7,000,000 per year!
I assume that means people and, if the estimate is anywhere accurate, then it is a far more dangerous health factor than Covid19 or so it seems where the WHO estimate the TOTAL Covid related fatalities over the whole period of the outbreak to be les than 7,000,000, see below.
Interesting data on something that is still so widely ongoing.
But I guess whilst the trend is to believe electric cars are the answer to everything, this will continue.
Meanwhile the FA cup games were played with League 2 Grimsby Town knocking out Premier League Southampton. A League 2 team in the quarter finals, fantastic.
There are 3 Championship teams still left in the cup as well, Sheffield United dispatching Spurs.
Their reward? A home leg against fellow Championship side Blackburn Rovers, come on Blades that's what I say.
And the Clarets.
The Clarets made it into the quarter finals beating Fleetwood Town and will visit the Etihad stadium where Claret's manager Vincent Kompany will take on his old side Manchester City.
How the draw comes out!
I will close this bit of a blog with the news from the BBC "Amazon jungle: Man survives 31 days by eating worms."
Maintaining the footballing theme here is another famous worm eater.
Here I am again sampling food and service. I am in Chiang Mai and I strolled to the Causeway Irish Pub where I had a pint of Guinness and a new to me dish, a Dublin Spice Bag. Very nice it was to be sure.
Having had a nice little stroll at Mae Kuang to the suspension bridge earlier in the week I wanted to take a stroll around the knoll. So I did Once again a most enjoyable stroll in this wonderful area. For this walk I parked in the parking area by the main dam and the first thing I did was to take a look at the water level markers and the view, something my good friend Bill got me into. Then down the hill, which for a road is pretty steep. Along the base of the knoll and as I approached the turn back up to the dam level I was fortunate enough to catch a cycle tour Going up the road to the dam level I met this lady and her pal sporting a big triangular net I asked her what it was for, and she showed me Crabs for the pot. Up to the dam level And this time it was to take the road to the left and pass where I had parked the Burg the last time so if you fancy a stroll here and you think this and the previous stroll to the bridge are a bit short, no problem, just combine them (and...
