A Fab Family Friday

Image
Pin's daughter and family are here with us for the long holiday weekend. Our granddaughter is 6 months old now and I can't believe how much she has grown. Who is this strange foreigner her face may be saying 😍 Anyway having enjoyed some rather nice Thai lunch in the local boat-noodle place of we went on a hike up Doi Ngom.  Although on a decent road it can be very steep in places but I cant yet find a way to demonstrate just how steep a road is on a photo and we were only progressing at just over 2km/hr. Even so there were some great views The walk was supposed to be quite short but we had set out mid afternoon and at 2.7km into the walk it was clear that getting to the chedi and back in daylight may be a problem so the older members of the team decided to stop there. But the young army son in law decided to jog on... 😮 If you are wondering where the Chedi is, here it is... What? cant see it? Returning home it was a quick shower and change ready to go and experience the ligh

Krabi on the Burg 4

Image
For the keen among you, or simple the old retired blokes, students, unemployed and others with nothing to do all day, the Burg is fitted with a camera, it's a 1080 HD unit and usually I record trips using timelapse.  This time I set it to record the video which I then had to speed up etc to get 3 days of rides onto a 15 minute video. Did the speed make it hard to watch especially with the shadows and the like? Maybe... I am also not sure if upscaling to 4K really enhances this type of video so for the ride back I am just going to try getting the HD as good as I can. Anyway... Ignoring the tech stuff, loved the ride. Here it is... Comments welcome. Coffee.

Krabi 2, Relive the Ride.

As many of you know, I use Relive to visualise my wandering. Here I have clipped together the rides on the Burg from the July 2023 ride to Krabi and back. If you want data like fuel cost, km, etc, drop me a line. Here it is; 😁

Krabi 1, A Short Slideshow

Image
The Burg ride is over and it is time to sift through the many hundreds of snaps and videos most of which no one will ever see. Doing that then producing blogs and videos takes an oldie like me time so I though I would produce a quick taster. A few slides for you to start the Krabi Ride series. Hope you like. Coffee.

The Fiddle and the Formula 1

If I was a rich man. That's the silly little phrase over with. I assume the connection is easy😀 You may have read that Saturday was pretty good. It included a stroll into the city and the first stop was the Kalae Bar. I cant speak to highly of the Kalae Bar, it is one of Chiang Mai's little gems. You always get a warm greeting, and more often than not a few complimentary nibbles. Plus it is the only place I know that still gives you a cold refreshing towel which is so very welcome after a hot hot walk into the city From there it was but a short stroll round the corner to the Red Lion where I was able to confirm the Old Speckled Hen was back. And I was able to complement it with the superb roast beef dinned served there. Before watching the F1 qualifying from the best track in the world, Silverstone. But... Sunday didn't start so well, my left eye felt like someone had been rubbing ground glass into it😭 And it took unto afternoon for it to slowly subside. Fortunately it d

Greetings. Are you wondering what the title is all about? Read on, all will be revealed... Wednesday was all planned out, a trip to the market followed by a stroll from there across the city to see my GP With stops all depending on time and of course, the weather. But as it happened, early that morning the surgery called and ask if I could come earlier and so the walk route and time changed. Shorter than planned it still was a most enjoyable city stroll. At the beginning of the walk there was this which I have done a little tweak on Close to the surgery and there was time for a brew The elephants on  the corner looked just right  And it was good to see the workmen getting chance to take some rest The tiling on the Wat wall caught my eye I called in Happy drink to see some friends who were happy to see me My friend John had commented on Facebook about the new place that has opened opposite the Red Lion   Pretty plush, designer beer and a selection of weed... I decided to go to the Red

Hello July

Image
The weekend and we move into the back end of the year. 6 months have passed, quite an eventful 6 months and now things are looking good with wonderful clean air in the post pandemic period. Not that this weekend being the 1st and 2nd of July rally made a difference to me, my plans were to try and play with a time-lapse as evening drew close on the Saturday and watch the F1on Sunday. So I did. This is how it went: It was just after 6pm when I arrived at at Stinky only to find there was very little water in the canal. I strolled onwards, it has been some months since I was last here and there were many many more people here at that time. In the absent time there seems to have been a new bar opened, at least I dont recall seeing it before. Onwards and I though it would be nice to have a beer at what my friend Charlie has tagged xenon bar although it is listed on Google as "ร้าน 166 หม่าล่าเบียร์วุ้น" which Google translates says is "Shop 166 Mala Beer Woon". But it was
